Avinash is an independent journalist and author with interest in politics and elections. He has been a newsman for over two decades and has worked with The Times of India and Mail Today Newspapers.
His byline has appeared in The Hindu Business Line, Deccan Herald, The Tribune, The statesman, Dainik Bhaskar, Rajasthan Patrika, The Quint, Daily O, Oman Observer and Gulf News.
He has appeared as a political commentator on India Today, NDTV, News X , Aaj Tak and The Lallantop.
He is the founder of Talk Journalism, India’s first Journalism festival that has successfully hosted eight editions in Jaipur and three in United Kingdom since its inception in 2012.
The University of Westminster Alumni, Avinash has written America 2020: Ek Bata hua Desh , his first book published by Rajkamal Prakashan on American Elections. This is also the first original book on the subject in Hindi.
Given his penchant for covering elections, he has travelled Rajasthan (India’s largest state as per demographics) in a state transportation bus and runs a series #RajbyRoad on social media platform X. He also covered the USA elections in 2020 also by road when he travelled over 18,000 kilometres by car crossing 26 states during Covid19 pandemic and published the book.
For a year 2012-2013, he was also the Media Advisor to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Railway Ministry, Government of India.
When not working, watching historical documentaries, cricket and tennis along with reading biographies keep him occupied.
